We loved to see Maddy every day when my daughter was recovering from surgery. It was a highlight to get all hooked up to walk around the unit because she was so happy and outgoing. Your beautiful spirit is with God. I hope to hear you calling "Hi!" again one day.

We met Maddy during my son Jaime's stay at TCH February 2025. Jaime was 14 yrs old at the time but he still attended all the events child life set up for the kids. We got to know Maddy more at the events. Maddy was very smart and bilingual. She surprised us when she spoke Spanish. When we walked the unit she always said "hello Jaime". I remember the day she showed us her "flat maddy" adventures. The day my son had his parade he made sure that Maddy would be available to attend. 🤍 It was an honor to have met her.

Oh sweet Maddy! You will forever be in our families heart. You were such a character. I will always cherish the time we got to spend with you while Beni was inpatient at Texas Children's. One of my most favorite times while inpatient was when we would take Beni for his walk around the unit before bed and as we would pass your room you would always yell “Goodnite Beni! I love you!” You were such a joy and always had everyone laughing. I can never thank you enough sweet maddy for being such a great friend to our Beni. We love you so very much. You will forever be miss 💗 Love Beni and the Martinez Family

I was walking past Maddy’s room one night while she was watching Big Hero 6. I walked in an said “hi” and then she said “look!” while she switched the channel to Big Hero 6 in Spanish, We started watching it together, I sat next to her while I gave her a hug. Another nurse walked in and asked why we were watching it in Spanish, then we asked Maddy if she knew Spanish and she said “hola! como estas?” We were both in shock because we had no idea Maddy knew Spanish. You never knew what Maddy would say, she always had the craziest sayings. She brought so much joy to us, knowing Maddy her was a privilege. We will miss you, sweet girl. 🩷

Sweet Maddy was such a character to come across in the halls. I never really left my daughters room, but she definitely always put a smile on my face whenever I saw her. Beautiful and so cute in her little outfits! Her energy was something that was a blessing to feel when we were staying at TCH. Even when I didn't see her, I could hear her pass by our room and would still put a smile on my face. Sweet girl, this hits hard as I see you the same as my daughter, having hlhs and having to fight a fight since birth. You will always be remembered.

She was just on my mind recently. My sweet baby girl. We have the same birthday, so would call her my birthday twin. She will forever be missed and forever is my thoughts and prayers. I remember caring for Maddie so many times on the unit. She loved to go on walks and sit at the nurses station. Sending love to her family.

Before I met Maddy I never knew just how much life could be inside such a small person. She was our unit icon, our superstar, our princess. You would hear her before you saw her. Her soul touched so many people including my own. My heart breaks for her and for her family. She will be a gladiator princess in the stars and will shine her light and protection down on her loved ones. Her heart and soul were so fierce she could not be contained. My prayers to you and your family. With love.

Rest in peace beautiful angel, God send me a message when I too ached as a heart baby mother. “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.”Your parents got to enjoy beautiful memories that will forever live in their hearts and minds. May God hold them and help them through their pain. Know that she is with God and there is no pain and one day you will be reunited.

We were at my daughter's birthday party in Uncle Monty's and Aunt Cindy's front yard playing football with the other small kids. I started to walk towards the front of the yard when I felt a small hand grab mine. I looked down and saw Maddy's smiling face looking up and me. We walked together to go grab the football and took turns throwing and kicking the foot ball to the other kids. I don't think she ever met a stranger anywhere she went.

We were on the same floor as Maddy. My baby was there for a heart procedure. When we finally made it to the floor we met the Queen Bee of the floor Ms. Maddy herself. She was such a character and would stop by every day to see how my baby was doing. We celebrated her birthday there at the hospital and we stopped by her room to give her her gifts from each of my girls. She was such a joy in a place that is very emotional and has seen families go through so much. Thank you Maddy for always checking in on my baby Harper even though you were going through your own heart battles. Harper is now 2yrs old and doing well. I'll make sure she knows about you and how you would always stop by and check on her. Rest with the angels Maddy you will be missed.

Sweet Maddy, you left an imprint on our families hearts forever. The moment we met you, we immediately loved you. Who wouldn’t! You brought our family so much love and joy. Oakley and Kash just adored you. We loved when you would come sit outside Oakleys room and play. We would sing and dance… you always made us laugh. I’ll never forget you screaming “Okies mom, Okie mom!” in the halls. Oh it was the best. You always put a smile on my face even during some of our hardest days. I know you are know dancing with Jesus. Your light will be so incredibly missed. I am so so incredibly grateful to have known you. We will love you forever. Until we meet again sweet Maddy. Love always, The Werley’s (Braden, Kennidi, Oakley, and Kash)

It was such a joy getting to know Maddy and being surrounded by her exuberant personality at family gatherings. Man, when she walked into a room it was like you would imagine Dolly Parton walking in the room with her vibrant personality. I mean, not just a normal personality but a personality that was so large and almost always smiling. A little memory that I don’t exactly own but it has resonated with me, occurred with my BIL, uncle Danny. This stuck with me significantly and it exemplifies her I believe.. The very first time she walked into a family gathering, which of course had a large display of food, and we all met her, she was barely 3 years old I believe. Uncle Danny recalled that she walked in the room and the first thing she said was “Hi I’m Maddy and I’M HUNGRY!!!” that first day, I also met her and I knew she never met a stranger. It’s funny how such a young person can have an effect on so many. She was very entertaining, outgoing, lovable, and touched everyone she came into contact with thank you Maddy for giving me several smiles and laughs and simply being natural you!

Maddy was a ray of sunshine during our recent stay at TCH after Duke’s last surgery. She kept everyone on their toes and ran the floor. Praying for you all.

I never knew Maddy's middle name was Hope. What a perfect name for the sweet little girl who brightened everyone's day with her "hi!". She was always so bappy and friendly to everyone. And my daughter loved seeing her. Im so sorry you didn't have much longer with her here on earth.

Julia · Hospital Neighbor

We met Maddy during our post heart surgery stay when my daughter was 5 months old. My mother and I were washing clothes in the family lounge when Maddy peeked around the corner and struck up a game of peek-a-boo. It’s almost like she knew how much we needed her sweet giggles, radiant smile, and playful bright blue eyes. She was one of the best parts about TCH for us, and I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. Maddy was an angel on Earth. I’ll be praying for you and your family
